Uninstalling AVG AntiVirus and AVG Internet Security from Mac

To uninstall AVG AntiVirus or AVG Internet Security from Mac, follow the instructions below.

IMPORTANT: Dragging or moving the AVG AntiVirus or AVG Internet Security icon to the Trash does not uninstall the program.

Preferred Method

1. Click the AVG AntiVirus icon in the menu bar, then select Open AVG AntiVirus or Open AVG Internet Security.
   
2. Ensure the AVG window is active, then click AVG AntiVirus or AVG Internet Security in the menu bar and select Uninstall AVG AntiVirus or Uninstall AVG Internet Security from the context menu.
   
3. Click Uninstall.
   
4. Enter your system administrator credentials and click OK to grant permission for the uninstallation.
   
5. Click Quit.
   

The uninstallation is complete.

Alternative Method

If you are unable to uninstall AVG AntiVirus using the Preferred Method, follow the detailed steps below.

1. Click Go in the menu bar, then select Utilities.
   
2. Double-click Terminal.
   
3. In the Terminal window, type open /Applications/AVGAntivirus.app/Contents/Backend/utils/com.avg.uninstall.app then press Enter.
   
4. Click Uninstall.
   
5. Enter your system administrator credentials and click OK to grant permission for the uninstallation.
   
6. Click Quit.
   

The uninstallation is complete.
