Learn how to use Norton product key

Activate or renew using a product key purchased from a store

1. Start Norton.

   If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

2. Do one of the following:

   • To activate your subscription, in the Norton product main window, click Activate Now.

   • To renew your subscription, in the Norton product main window, click Help and then under Account information, click Enter Product Key.

3. Enter the product key or renewal code that you received from the store.

   To locate the product key or renewal code, see Find your product key, PIN, or renewal code.

   If your product key does not work, see Message: "Invalid Product Key".

   If you use a product key, the remaining days with your current subscription do not get added to the subscription associated with the new key.

I have installed my Norton product and I want to activate it

1. Start Norton.

2. Click Help.

3. Click Enter Product Key.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

I need to download and install my Norton product before I use my product key

1. Sign In to Norton.

2. If you are not signed in to Norton already, type in your email address and password for Norton, and click Sign In.

   If you do not have a Norton account, click Create account, and then complete the sign-up process.

3. In the Get Started page, click Download Norton.

   If you have a product key that is not yet registered to your account, click Enter a New Product Key.

   Type the product key and click >. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate the product.

4. Click Agree & Download.

5. Do one of the following depending on your browser:

   • For Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge browser: Click Run.

   • For Firefox or Safari: On the top-right corner of the browser, click the Download option to view the downloaded files, and double-click the file that you downloaded.

   • For Chrome: On the bottom-left corner, double-click the file that you downloaded.

6. If the User Account Control window appears, click Continue.

   Follow the on-screen instructions.

   Norton is now installed and activated.

Common mistakes when entering a product key

• Spaces in the product key will cause an error.

• Make sure you are entering license information for the specific product you are using. License information for one Norton product is not interchangeable with another Norton product.

  For example, you cannot use the product key for your Norton protection to activate Norton Utilities Premium. You can find the product key for Norton Utilities Premium in the My Subscription page of your account.

• If you still see a message indicating incorrect or invalid licensing information, verify that you typed the license information exactly as shown.

  Some characters (such as the number 0 and the letter O) can look very similar. Try double-checking the following: the letters O, l (lower-case l), I (capital I); and the numbers 0 (zero) and 1 (one).
